At the beginning of this month we had the wonderful sailing Yacht Neorion, a 118 ft Oliver van Meer designed private sailing schooner, arrive into Thailand having been crewed by the Owner and the First Mate Marine team from Batam, Indonesia to Phuket for the purpose of a haul out and yard period for the vessel.

The vessel was originally built in the 90’s but when the project ran into difficulties finishing it was laid up until the current owner bought her in 2011 and fitted her out to his exacting specifications in the shipyard in Holland. Launched in 2014 the owner has been extensively cruising on board with the goal of completing a second navigation. During this extensive cruising regular, wear and tear on the boat has occurred and during the difficult time to travel of covid the owner has decided to conduct his refit and maintenance period with the fmm team in Phuket Boat Lagoon.

Phuket boat Lagoon Marina has been generous enough to offer us a full hardstand space for both the Vessel and the masts during this period of extensive cosmetic refit and maintenance.

During this period we will complete a full exterior respray including decks, cabintops, topsides and all spars to be completed in collaboration with Satun Painters. As well as a new teak deck to be laid by Phuket Interwood. There are multiple carpentry repairs to be made and full touch up of the varnish onboard. Along with a refreshed set of sails, covers for the boat and interior upholstery.
Mechanically the vessel has its scheduled regular maintenance to do and upgrades to certain systems on board. We will conduct generator and engine servicing as well as upgrades to navigational electronics and hydraulic systems on board.

We are very grateful for the trust and confidence the owner has bestowed upon us during this period. The FMM Crew will work diligently to ensure that we maintain the highest level of care and quality of work for the vessel throughout this period of refit with First Mate Marine.
